Milwaukee is the largest city in the state of Wisconsin,
United States and the county seat of
Milwaukee County. The city's population is 596,974 with a total of 1,500,741 in the consolidated metropolitan area (2000). It is the 19th largest city in the
United States. The city is located in the southeastern portion of the state on the western shore of
Lake Michigan.
